Commercial Pilot Licence

A commercial pilot licence allows you to fly a helicopter for hire or reward. A NZ CPL is well recognised internationally and is easily converted in most countries around the world. A career as a helicopter pilot can take you all over the world flying in a number of different roles. 

To be eligible for a Commercial Pilot Licence:

  • 18 years old
  • Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate
  • A private pilot licence

  • Air Law
  • Navigation & Flight Planning
  • Meteorology
  • Principles of Flight
  • Aircraft Technical Knowledge

Minimum Flight Experience

  • Cross-country: 20 hours
  • Mountain: 10 hours
  • Sling: 10 hours
  • Total: 150 hours

Time Frame

  • Full-time: allow 9-10 months
  • Part-time: allow 2 years
